Filing for Office

The City of Fridley has two offices on the November 2020 ballot: The offices of Mayor and Councilmember-at-Large.

Note: You must be a resident of the City to file for office.

Election Candidates

Filings for these offices will open in Spring of 2020. This page will be updated as candidates file with the City. 

Filing Time Period

Filings for these offices opens and closes in the Spring of 2020.

If more than two candidates file for one office, a primary election will be held on August 11, 2020, to narrow the candidates to two. The two candidates receiving the most votes will move forward to the General Election on November 3, 2020.

How to File

Updated forms for filing in 2020 will be provided in the Spring of 2020.

The filing process will include a $10 filing fee and nominating petition.

Instructions for circulating and filing a Nomination Petition that has been signed by a minimum of ten registered voters during the filing period will be included in the Candidate Filing Forms.

Once a candidate spends or receives $750, the candidate must file a Campaign Finance Report within 14 days with the Fridley City Clerk. See Chapter 211A of the Fair Campaign practices Act. This information is provided in the Campaign Finance Information.
